I really enjoyed this film is was good ole American fun. I played it not knowing what to expect and I was treated to an hour and a half of fun. It just goes to show with a little imagination and good story telling you can create a comedy in a horror film that still ends up being somewhat serious. <br/><br/>I liked the fact that everyone involved in this movie didn't take it seriously and I think that's why it worked so well. Bravo to the writer that thought of this… what can I say… fun, fun, fun.<br/><br/>The acting was decent of course Eric Roberts stood well above anyone else in it, except his daughter maybe.<br/><br/>The story was actually very good, and although the movie was so corny many times it made me laugh but at the same time, so story was engaging.<br/><br/>I always think SciFi and Horror writers always get the short end of the stick during Oscar time. To me it takes a hell of a better writer to write something like "Star Wars," "The Matrix" or "Indiana Jones." Anyone can write a drama, but Sci-Fi takes a hell of a lot more creativity. By no means am I saying this movie is an Oscar type movie, I am just speaking my mind on another topic to get my 10 lines in… lol<br/><br/>I give this two thumbs up and two toes! Way to go!
Dear People that made Sharktopus ,<br/><br/>We think that you paid 10 dollars on the whole movie. Next movie put at least 30 dollars. This movie needs a lot of work, more drama and make more things look real .Everything looks fake , and if you remake this movie don't make so many girls die and don't make Santos die. I think when the actors read this they thought it was cool. But when they were acting, in it in their heads they probably thought why are we doing this this is so stupid. My thought was every 10 minutes in the beginning someone dies in the middle every 5 minutes someone dies then in the end every 3 minutes someone dies.Nathenal gets cut in the leg but someone else gets cut too and dies while he doesn't?! Sharktopus, a genetically-engineered half-shark, half-octopus dubbed S-11, created by Blue Water employees Dr Nathan Strands (<a href="/name/nm0000616/">Eric Roberts</a>) and his daughter Nicole (<a href="/name/nm1523899/">Sara Malakul Lane</a>) to serve the military, escapes off the coast of Santa Monica, California and makes its way down to Mexican waters where it attacks numerous fishers and beachgoers. Although Strands wants to capture the sharktopus alive, Nicole and ex-Blue Water employee Andy Flynn (<a href="/name/nm2792064/">Kerem Bürsin</a>) realize that the creature must be destroyed, something easier said than done. Sharktopus is a Syfy channel remake of the 1984 Italian film <a href="/title/tt0088100/">Shark: Rosso nell'oceano (1984)</a> (Devil Fish). The screenplay for Sharktopus was written by Mike MacLean. An octopus can survive on land for twenty minutes or more and are often reported by aquarium workers or pet ownershaving left its cage and taken a walk. Some species have even been seen leaving the water to hunt on land. Sharks cannot survive on land and most species require a steady flow of water over their gills to breaththey lack the muscles to pump water through their gills on their own. The addition of seemingly ornamental spikes on the gills of the sharktopus presumably grants it the magical ability to not suffocate. Yes, he does. <a href="/name/nm0000339/">Roger Corman</a> can be seen about 12 minutes into the filmthe bum who watchesa woman who just found a gold coin in the sand is carried off by the sharktopus, after which the bum shrugs and picks up the coin. Andy and Nicole go after the Sharktopus, following it to a tourist village upstream where the Sharktopus has been ravaging tourists and locals alike. With no bullets or grenades left, Nicole thinks she might be able to access the kill switch with her computer. However, first they must establish a link with with an interface dart to its brain. While Nicole searches for her father's access code, trying first "Sharktopus" then "Octoshark" with no result, Andy shoots it with the dart then tries to fight it off with a stick. Nicole's nickname "Pumpkin" finally lets her in, and justthe creature is about to gobble up Andy, she hits the kill button, blowing the Sharktopus to bits. In the final scene,a blood-covered Andy joins Nicole, he looks down over the riverbed and says, "That thing better not jump out on us again," to which Nicole replies, "That only happens in the movies."
